Petronet LNG, India's largest liquefied natural gas importer, has announced through its social media channels that it has commissioned its first LNG-powered commercial AC bus.

The company, the brief statement said, has also commissioned distribution stations in the Dahej and Kochi terminals for bus refueling. According to a recent interview by the head of the Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL) terminal in Kochi, Thekkedathu Neelakantan, two LNG buses for each terminal will be used for staff movement, and once filled with LNG they would travel for about 800 km.

The company also plans to build an LNG distribution infrastructure to meet the M&HCV fleet for long-range transport, in order to promote the use of LNG in the country as a cleaner, more ecological and economic fuel.
