First Bureau Veritas approval for HHI floating LNG-to-power solution

Classification company Bureau Veritas has granted Principle Approval (AiP)  for Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) LNG Floating Power Plant System (Hi-FL2P).

The project jointly developed (JDP) by HHI and Bureau Veritas and formally completed with the award of the AiP certificate, concerns an "all-in-one" LNG-powered floating power plant in which all the equipment and systems necessary for the generation and transmission of energy, including the LNG tank, the gas supply system and the power plant, are contained.

HHI expects an increasing number of orders for floating all-in-one LNG power plants, and the release of the AiP is a key step for the marketability of the system.

Commenting on the AiP, HHI's chief technical director Jae-Eul Kim said the company has selected the barge-shaped power plant with dual-fuel engines relying on a lower investment cost (CAPEX) than infrastructure land and an ever-increasing global demand for environmentally friendly power generation.
