ConferenzaGNL and Mirumir join forces to promote the use of LNG

ConferenzaGNL and Mirumir join forces to promote the use of liquefied natural gas as a cutting-edge solution for transport and environmental protection ConferenzaGNL and Mirumir, a company specialising in the organisation of fairs and events, have reached an agreement to work closely together. The combination of their different areas of expertise is intended to strengthen ConferenzaGNL’s efforts to help boost both awareness and the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and to promote this industrial sector in Italy. LNG is used directly in shipping and heavy duty overland transport, for fleets of public transport vehicles, and to supply industry and isolated networks and ports. In the future it will also be used to supply non-electric locomotives and space launchers. What is more, the movement of goods by road could immediately draw considerable benefits from the use of LNG. This is the direction in which a number of operators are now moving. These include manufacturers of LNG-powered heavy vehicles, the major energy groups involved in the construction of deposits, as well as the builders of service stations and freight terminals. In the meantime, the Italian Ministry for Economic Development is working on a national strategic plan on the use of LNG, while the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is focusing on implementing the EU directive on alternative fuels: the two measures in question must be introduced within the current year. ConferenzaGNL was first set up four years ago by energy sector consultant Diego Gavagnin, in collaboration with WEC-Italia, the Italian Member Committee of the World Energy Council. The event, which also features an exhibition, has already been held three times, most recently in Rome in June 2015. Over time, it has evolved and has previously also included six in-depth workshops. The activities of ConferenzaGNL have drawn attention, both in Europe and internationally, to the dynamism of regulatory and industrial operations in this field, the aim being to give LNG for sea and land transport its own regulatory framework and industrial chain. This collaboration will be developed in synergy with Oil&nonoil, the event devoted to energy, fuel and mobility services, organised by Mirumir and due to take place at Veronafiere from 11 to 13 October 2016. Indeed, Oil&nonoil, from the outset, has always focused on alternative fuels on account of the positive environmental and economic effects their use could have in the various transport sectors. In short, this close alliance between ConferenzaGNL and Mirumir is motivated by the desire to provide an adequate response both to the many developments in this industry and to its need for communication and education: the calendar of events for 2016-2017 will soon be finalised.
