At the end of February and beginning of April, the industrial gas companies SOL and Air Liquide, together with other partners, announced the start of work on their respective bioGNL production plants. Two plants are already in production in Italy: Cooperativa Speranza in Candiolo (TO) and Lucra 96 in Lodi, with a production capacity of just over 7000 cubic metres of bioGNL, using agricultural waste.

In addition to the many innovations in the development of direct uses of LNG in Italy, there are two other milestones: the first production of bioLNG and the first refuelling of a truck. The first truck refuelling operation took place on Thursday 5 November at the Vulcangas service station in Rimini thanks to the start of industrial production of bio LNG at the Lucra96 biogas liquefaction plant in Lodi, Lombardy.
