Welcome and opening Remarks

SMALL SCALE LNG: A MILESTONE TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TRANSITION

Direct uses of Small Scale LNG in transport, industry and elsewhere are no longer a promise but a solid reality in the global energy transition. Leading experts, representatives of major international organizations and companies will describe the state of the art. It is the first time in world economic history that a new fuel spreads simultaneously on all continents. There are regional characteristics to be evaluated and shared. Concerns about climate change, security of energy supply and competitiveness are all driving factors towards an increasing role for Small Scale LNG.

12.30 – 13.00 Expo Opening Ceremony

13.00 – 14.00 Lunch break

14.00 - 15.30 SPECIAL SESSION Room A

HOW TO SUPPLY SMALL SCALE LNG FOR MARKET DEPLOYMENT

LNG market is growing but in Italy and in other European countries some key rings in the logistic chain are still to be realized. Inland and coastal storages, liquefying systems or multimodal transport systems are the main responses to the demand for LNG. Times of construction and volumes available will affect the market and its geographical equalization. Industry will give its recipe for a fast completion of the logistic chain.

15.45 - 18.00 THEMATIC SESSION Room A-B

MANY APPLICATIONS, ONE VISION: MARITIME AND LAND TRANSPORT

Integration between different sectors favors and accelerates the progress of Small Scale LNG applications as they are, driven by environmental and economic objectives. Representatives of the world’s leading manufacturers and users will illustrate the latest innovations in maritime transport, heavy land transport and rail transport. Round tables will be conducted by experienced international journalists.

ROOM A

15.45 – 18.00: HEAVY ROAD TRANSPORT AND RAIL TRANSPORT

LNG is rapidly replacing oil products, especially for transport on long distances. New benefits would emerge because of continuing technology innovation. In addition LNG low-carbon rail transport has interesting prospects.

ROOM B

15.45 – 18.00: MARITIME TRANSPORT

January 1, 2020 – January 1, 2051: from 0.5% sulfur to minus 50% of carbon dioxide. LNG for maritime transport is the best solution for all the seas through the world. Ship-owners, shipyards and lenders are ready.

20.30 Official dinner on invitation

9.30 - 11.30 PLENARY SESSION Room A

SMALL SCALE LNG FOR ITALY, EUROPE AND THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA

EU has placed itself at the forefront of environmental protection and in the battle against climate change. Many of the measures launched in the past few years, regarding the emission limits in transport and the development of alternative fuels infrastructures, require a large-scale implementation of clean technologies. European populations and companies look at the Mediterranean region, Middle East and Africa and aim to involve these areas in the development of Small Scale LNG. To achieve this goal, the energy transition must have the same intensity in all countries.

11.45 – 13.00 ROUND TABLE Room A

HOW TO PROMOTE SMALL SCALE LNG USE IN THE EURO-MEDITERRANEAN REGION: OPPORTUNITIES AND PROSPECTS

Representatives of national, European and International Institutions discuss how to create in the Mediterranean a Small Scale LNG platform for Europe, Africa and Middle East.

13.00 – 14.30 Lunch Break

14.30 - 16.30 THEMATIC SESSION Room A-B-C

ROOM A

14.30 – 16.30:BIO-LNG, THE SPECIAL GUEST

Leading experts will discuss Bio-LNG and its prospects. The subject is becoming a powerful engine for the development of all direct uses of LNG. Bio-LNG mixed with normal LNG further improves the already exceptional environmental performance. The Bio-LNG appears as the last stage of the energy transition, in the transition from fossil energies and electricity towards renewable sources. Bio-LNG a Key element of the circular economy. The commitment of all the citizens of the world is needed to guarantee the future to the new generations.

ROOM B

14.30 – 16.30:MANY APPLICATIONS, ONE VISION: INDUSTRIES, GRIDS, SPACE

Integration between the various sectors- first maritime and land transports- favors and accelerates the progress of LNG usages, as driven by environmental and economic objectives. Representatives of the world’s leading manufacturers and users will illustrate the latest innovations for industries and city networks. A new case is represented by space carriers where LNG use has some advantage. Interventions and round tables managed by experienced international journalists.

ROOM C

14.30 – 16.30:TECH INNOVATION, THE KEY TO SUCCESS

Limits to pollutant emissions and CO2 reduction targets ask for a renewed effort on LNG technologies. Engines and accessories need to be redesigned and improved. Time horizon could be the year 2030 while technologies which are in their infancy might find large-scale market deployment around the year 2050 or so. This session will describe and address the problems of all the major technologies that are determining the worldwide success of direct uses of LNG:
• Cold storage, Cryogenic valves, Small liquefactions, recovery of frigories;
• Hybrid engines (LNG and electricity, LNG and Hydrogen with fuels cells);
• Self-service dispensers, Loading arms technologies;
• Ship to ship technologies, Truck to ship technologies;
• Emissions prevention and control;
• LNG digital processes, LNG virtual processes.

16.30 – 17.30 CLOSING PLENARY SESSION Room A
